Interview with ORIETT DOMENECH

One of my favorite local designers right now, if not my favorite!. Oriett Domenech delighted us with her beautifully constructed line "DON'T HAVE TO BE BEAUTIFUL" Resort 2010 at the RDFW. I wish I had the words to describe the amazing talent of this dominican fashion designer. 

Here are some pictures of her recent collection.

1. Who's Oriett Domenech? 

I am a creative woman who likes different things. I'm also very perceptive. I adore to be with my friends and my beloved husband. I'm very uneasy and perfectionist. I love to speak with God and I have great faith. 

I love daydreaming!

2. Who's your ideal client?

A confident woman who loves fashion and likes to be different.

3. When did you launch your line? 

October 2009

4. Biggest achievement:

I hope I can answer that question in less than 10 years!

5. I'm obsessed with:

Making my brand ORIETT DOMENECH internationally known.

6. Which designer do you admire the most?

My top 3: Nicolas Ghesquière, Ricardo Ticsi and of course Alexander McQueen even though he's not with us anymore.

7. A city:

9. A fashion advice:

Always project security, it will make you look amazing no matter what you're wearing.

10. High heels or flats?

High heels when I want to look fabulous and flats when I'm tired of being fabulous. jejeje

11. You would never leave your house without?

iPhone and wallet

12. What's inside your handbag?

House keys, iPhone, a little cosmetic case with "Colossal Mascara" from Maybelline, Dior lipgloss and a MAC blush.

MERCURA NYC

I've always seen these glasses but never knew the brand until last night at Oriett Domenech's fashion show. All the models were rocking this amazing glasses. 

After the show I did some research and uploaded a few pictures for you to check these über cool sunnies.

Rachel Cohen-Lunning and Merrilee Lichtenstein Cohen work together as MERCURA NYC. Together they designed metal body sculptures and art at the Hotel Chelsea in the mid 1970's. Artwork included unique fantasy jewelry, metal dresses, metal bustiers, gauntlet cuffs, headdresses, crowns, metal hoods, and eyewear, cigarette holders, head ornaments, boxes and paintings and table mounted sculptures. They continue to have their design studio at the Chelsea and at a large work loft in the Flatiron Neighborhood.

Karen Walker is known for taking extremes and joining them together. Inspired by the anti-"It" girl, the New Zealand-based designer blends tailoring with streetwear, masculine with feminine, and adds luxurious elements to casual pieces. Since launching her eponymous line in 1989, Walker has received the Prix de Marie Claire award for best creative talent and launched a jewelry line, eyewear collection, and a selection of exclusive paints. She has also worked on other ventures, including a pop-up store in New York and a t-shirt collaboration with House of Holland.

Damaris Rubio @ RDFW

 Damaris Rubio brings a breath of fresh air with her new collection "FUSHION". 

This time around she opts for a more casual and comfortable collection, with a mixture of colors,textures and shapes for today's women and men.

Definitely one of the most applauded designers at the Dominican Republic Fashion Week.

In 2009 our talented dominican designer Damaris Rubio, was awarded "The Best Pret-a-Porter Collection" at the Miami Fashion Week.

Jasmin Abu Naba'a @ RDFW

Gorgeous swimwear collection by the talented dominican young designer Jasmin Abu Naba'a.

The runway was overloaded with beauteous bikinis, from halter tops to strapless, in abstract prints, pale blue shiny fabrics and alluring embroidered tops.

At her young age, Jasmin has captivated us all with her beautifully constructed  and delightful designs. 

Definitely a one to watch!!
